The Importance of society and its survival in relation to military morale There has been many talks of the military and its connection to sports and other forms of advertising. Opponents of the military sponsoring sports such as NASCAR and other sports say it is not needed and/or wasteful spending. I very much disagree with that. Sports in military history is well founded and known. From Spartan warriors wrestling in the Olympics or Genghis Khans cavalry playing in games of racing to Saladin and his fellow officers playing polo. They gave enjoyment, leisure and an outlet for soldiers during times of peace and in war. Being a soldier whose sole occupation is to kill and perhaps die for the sake of society can wear physiologically on ones bearings.
